After flying high against the Lanesboro Burros last Tuesday, the Lyle/Pacelli Athletics came back down to earth. Lyle/Pacelli took a 66-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Lyle/Pacelli can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while the Knights are ranked 144th).
Kingsland's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Max Erdman, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Erdman hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaaleem Reiland, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Lyle/Pacelli's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Kingsland, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lyle/Pacelli will square off against the Lions at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Kingsland, they will head out on the road to challenge the Rebels at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Southland has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,529 points over their last 19 matches.
