The Stafford Indians lost against the Riverbend Bears last Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Stafford fell just short of Riverbend by a score of 46-43. Stafford has not had much luck with Riverbend recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Stafford still got an impressive performance from Sean Hopkins, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Hopkins is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zion Bacchus, who scored six points along with six rebounds and four blocks.
Stafford has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Riverbend, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-11 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stafford's road trip will continue as they head out to face Massaponax at 6:30 p.m. on February 5th. Stafford will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 300th, while Massaponax is ranked 74th). As for Riverbend, they will head out on the road to take on Brooke Point at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Brooke Point focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Friday.
