The Charlestown Pirates will head out to square off against the Seymour Owls at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Charlestown is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
Charlestown was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Borden on Friday. The Pirates blew past the Braves 9-2. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Braves: they've now won six in a row.

Hannah Burns spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ella Shaw was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Avarie Freiberger, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Charlestown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Borden only posted a batting average of .231.
Meanwhile, Seymour waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Olympians by a score of 6-1. While the Owls didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Seymour also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Taylor Stuckwisch gave up only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Zoe Williams, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
Seymour pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Charlestown, their record now sits at 6-3.
Charlestown beat Seymour 8-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
