It was a Battle of the Birds when Surry Central challenged Wilkes Central on Tuesday. Surry Central was the clear victor by a 20-9 margin over Wilkes Central. The Golden Eagles haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Cameron Cruise was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Ragan Hall was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
Cruise wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Surry Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive contests.
Elkin never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Alleghany on Tuesday. They walked away with a 14-10 win over the Trojans. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Buckin' Elks as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Zoey Cincotti made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off only two hits. Cincotti was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Aiden Byrd was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with three doubles, four RBI, and two runs. Those doubles were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie White, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
The win got Surry Central back to even at 4-4. As for Elkin, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 4-6.
Elkin's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Surry Central has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Elkin, though, as they've been averaging 10.5 hits. Given Surry Central's sizable advantage in that area, Elkin will need to find a way to close that gap.
Surry Central suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Elkin when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Surry Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
