The McComb Panthers will take on the North Baltimore Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with McComb sitting on three straight victories and North Baltimore on five.
McComb lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Leipsic, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's matchup. The Panthers blew past the Vikings 14-3 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
McComb got a massive performance out of Hannah Sherick, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases Sherick has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Ebright, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
McComb kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, North Baltimore earned a 7-2 win over Upper Scioto Valley on Monday.
Brynlee Schmidt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Layla Delancy was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Leah Trout, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
North Baltimore pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for McComb, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.
McComb might still be hurting after the 13-2 defeat they got from North Baltimore in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
