Clairemont and Coronado played the most contested game in Central this week, with Clairemont eventually emerging with a 7-6 victory. Alessandro Baldassarre ran for 63 yards during the win.
The Chieftains made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,915 from 9,126. The improvement was the result of a 7-6 victory over the Islanders last week.
Coronado's dynamic duo of Robby Weissenfels and Emmett Gormican proved tough for Clairemont to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Weissenfels threw for 153 yards and Gormican had 60 yards receiving. Leland Orr helped Coronado's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 42 yards.
Christian's Michael Carrillo and Kai Arvan have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback Carrillo has thrown for 1,490 yards this season, while Arvan has 23 catches for 495 yards. Ron Gladnick's team's Baldassarre leads the league in rushing yards with 397.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Christian takes on second place Clairemont.
