It was a proper cat-fight when Batesburg-Leesville duked it out with Saluda on Thursday. The Panthers blew past the Tigers 3-0. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Batesburg-Leesville was especially dominant in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-21, 25-16.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Strom Thurmond's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 3-1 to Ninety Six.
While Strom Thurmond had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 23-25, 25-18, 25-19.
Batesburg-Leesville will have to keep a close watch on Jules Sides and Mollie Bartley, a pair of players who had a big impact on Strom Thurmond's prior game. Sides had 14 digs, while Bartley had five digs and one assist. Sides has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last six times she's played.
Strom Thurmond's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Batesburg-Leesville, their victory bumped their record up to 16-18-1.
