Given Fort Stockton's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 638th, while Lake View is ranked 1479th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fort Stockton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amaya Urias, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and three steals. Urias hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Alondra Encinas was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds.
Fort Stockton's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-4. As for Lake View, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fort Stockton will face off against Del Rio at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lake View, they will head out on the road to face off against Andrews at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Andrews is on a three-game streak of home losses, Lake View a 19-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change.
