Softball Recap: Marionville Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Springfield Catholic, Marionville was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the Pierce City Eagles 13-7. Considering the Comets have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Maggie Murphy, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 matchups. Pearla Brown was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Marionville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in eight consecutive contests.

Marionville has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Pierce City, their loss was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, Marionville will face off against Lockwood at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pierce City, they will take on Miller at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
