The Tekamah-Herman Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Mount Michael Benedictine Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Tekamah-Herman took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They never let Benson get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Cale Belfrage and Robert (Parke) Loftis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Belfrage didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Loftis pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those ten strikeouts gave Belfrage a new career-high. At bat, Belfrage fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and two stolen bases while going 3-for-3, while Loftis went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. Belfrage is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Spencer Pagels, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Landon Miller was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Tekamah-Herman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Mount Michael Benedictine had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 13-12 W against the Vikings.
Barett Sykora was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. He is becoming a predictor of Mount Michael Benedictine's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-2 (and 4-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Miles Wewel, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Mount Michael Benedictine's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-10. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Tekamah-Herman, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-12.
Tekamah-Herman suffered a grim 18-3 defeat to Mount Michael Benedictine when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
