Andrews Academy will head out on the road to take on the Clinton Christian Couriers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Andrews Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Andrews Academy didn't have too much trouble with the at home as they won 65-47. The victory was just what Andrews Academy needed coming off of a 64-34 loss in their prior game.
Andrews Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Braden Keyes, who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Fin Dronen, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Clinton Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Lakeland Christian Academy, falling 51-24. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Clinton Christian in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite their loss, Clinton Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Austin Troyer, who scored four points along with six rebounds and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Hayden Lower was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds.
Andrews Academy is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Clinton Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Andrews Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Clinton Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.5 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Andrews Academy and the Couriers were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but the came up empty-handed after a 34-33 defeat. Can Andrews Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
