There's no place like home for the University Christian Christians, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 52-36 victory over ED White on Saturday. Given University Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while ED White is ranked 244th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
University Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tacarri Neal led the charge by scoring 12 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alanna Tatum, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why ED White lost, one person who can't be blamed is Leandrea McCloud. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. McCloud has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kyra Jackson, who scored seven points along with two steals.
ED White struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
University Christian pushed their record up to 12-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.2 points per game. As for ED White, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-8.
University Christian will head out on the road to take on Ponte Vedra at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for ED White, they will be playing at home against Englewood at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
