Baseball Recap: Four Straight Road Victories for North Decatur

North Decatur lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Switzerland County, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's matchup. The Chargers blew past the Pacers 18-8 on Saturday. Considering the Chargers have won six games by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Xander Jones was incredible, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Grayson Downey, who went 1-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

North Decatur always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Switzerland County only posted an OBP of .400.

North Decatur pushed their record up to 8-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.3 runs over those games. As for Switzerland County, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Decatur will head out to take on Knightstown at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Chargers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Switzerland County, they will head out on the road to face off against Milan at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Pacers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
