The Hampton County Hurricanes waltzed into their game on Tuesday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They walked away with a 43-34 victory over Edisto. Given Hampton County's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while the Cougars are ranked 243rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hampton County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kavon Chisolm, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks. Chisolm also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Xaviar Garvin, who scored 12 points.
Hampton County pushed their record up to 18-5 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Edisto, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-15.
Coincidentally, Hampton County and the Cougars will both be playing the Jaguars the next time they take the court. Hampton County will host the Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Cougars will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
