Paul VI has gone a perfect 4-0 against Saint John Paul the Great Catholic recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. Bryson Pickeral looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Noah Munoz was a standout: he scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Sirois, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Paul VI was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Saint John Paul the Great Catholic didn't have quite enough to beat Trinity Christian on Thursday and fell 6-5.
Charlie Skala was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. James Genovese was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Paul VI pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Saint John Paul the Great Catholic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Paul VI has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Saint John Paul the Great Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
