Liberty is 1-9 against Sherando since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Eagles will take on the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Liberty has given up an average of 7.1 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Liberty fell victim to James Wood and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Colonels, falling 16-0. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 8, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Meanwhile, Sherando came tearing into Thursday's game with 14 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. Considering the Warriors have won eight matchups by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Lilian Wray made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Sherando got a massive performance out of Sophia Zimmerman, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases Zimmerman has posted since back in March. Eliza Anderson was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Sherando was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Liberty's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Sherando, their record is now 16-1.
Liberty might still be hurting after the 13-5 loss they got from Sherando in their previous meeting last Thursday. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
