The North Adams Green Devils will venture away from home to face off against the Paint Valley Bearcats at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. North Adams has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight defeats, while Paint Valley will come in with four straight victories.
On Tuesday, North Adams didn't have quite enough to beat Lynchburg-Clay and fell 8-7.
Carlee Garrison put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season.
Garrison wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Paige Evans, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Karis Tumbleson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Paint Valley made easy work of Western on Tuesday and carried off a 17-2 win.
Like North Adams, Paint Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Kasarah Cantrell. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Cantrell was also big at the plate, scoring four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lydia Hamilton was incredible, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Kyla Littler was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Paint Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Western only posted an OBP of .182.
North Adams' loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Paint Valley, their record is now 3-0.
North Adams came out on top in a nail-biter against Paint Valley in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Green Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
