The Florala Wildcats entered their tilt with the Brantley Bulldogs with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Florala strolled past Brantley with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 57-42. Given Florala's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Brantley is ranked 245th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Florala's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elijah McMeans, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Rayshon Coleman, who scored 15 points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Brantley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jayden Parks. Despite the final result, he scored 25 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Parks scored a full 59.5% of Brantley's points, the 13th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Daylan Davis was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 16 rebounds.
Florala pushed their record up to 13-4 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Brantley, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.
Florala has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Houston County at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. Houston County has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 28. As for Brantley, they will head out on the road to face off against Kinston at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kinston has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8.
