The Yazoo County Panthers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 33-32 to Amanda Elzy. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Jevarion Glover continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Amanda Elzy, throwing for 241 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per attempt, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Eldred Horton, who picked up 50 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Amanda Elzy's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB 11 times. The heavy lifting was done by Horton and Detrick Munford who racked up six sacks between them.
Yazoo County's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.33 points per game. As for Amanda Elzy, the win was the fourth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.
Yazoo County will head out on the road to face off against Edwards at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Amanda Elzy, they will be playing at home against Winona at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Winona's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season.
