Alleghany is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell just short of Wilkes Central by a score of 14-12 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Trojans have suffered since April 17, 2025.
Isabella Billings stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Bailey Nilo, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Meanwhile, Starmount entered their tilt with North Wilkes on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Vikings get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won seven matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Rachael Bates was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Starmount got a massive performance out of Carley Money, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Money has posted since back in March. Mackinzie Cox was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Starmount lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Starmount's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Alleghany, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.
