The Prince George Royals fell victim to the Matoaca Warriors''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Warriors 45-0. Prince George just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.
Matoaca was led to victory by Bryce Yates and Ryley Justus. Yates picked up 100 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Justus threw for 249 yards and five touchdowns on only 19 passes. Justus is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played.
Prince George's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.4 points per game. As for Matoaca, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Prince George will head out on the road to face off against Hopewell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopewell presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Prince George in Virginia (Hopewell is ranked 46th, while Prince George is ranked 179th). As for Matoaca, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dinwiddie at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dinwiddie is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
