Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Valley Mills

Valley Mills had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They came out on top against Jonesboro by a score of 7-2.

Bianka Martinez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Martinez was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Lacee Engelbrecht was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Ezra Busch was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Valley Mills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .417 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Valley Mills' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Jonesboro, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Coming up, Valley Mills will take on Bosqueville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 2, the Bulldogs 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Jonesboro, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Moody at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
