Given Lamar's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Florence is ranked 260th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Lucas Martinez, who scored 17 points. Gabrian Jacobs was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Florence's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gage Goodall, who scored 16 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Gunnar Phillips, who scored 8 points along with 10 rebounds and 3 steals.
Lamar's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Florence, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Lamar will face off against Del Norte at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Florence, they will head out on the road to face off against Buena Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Buena Vista focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Tuesday.
