Mar Vista is a perfect 8-0 against Southwest SD since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mariners will challenge the Raiders at 6:30 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Mar Vista and three for Southwest SD.

Mar Vista is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Bonita Vista on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Mariners took a blow against the Barons, falling 55-6. The Mariners were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-0.

Mar Vista's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Braylon Shumate, who picked up 89 receiving yards and one touchdown, and Holden Bell, who threw for 174 yards and one TD. Shumate showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 68 yards.

Meanwhile, Southwest SD had to suffer through a 42-14 loss at the hands of Hilltop.

Southwest SD now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Mar Vista, they now also have a losing record of 3-4.

Mar Vista was able to grind out a solid victory over Southwest SD in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 28-20. Will the Mariners repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
