The Lake Wales Highlanders scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They came out on top against Discovery by a score of 82-74. The win was just what Lake Wales needed coming off of a 66-35 defeat in their prior game.
Lake Wales' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jeremy Willingham, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for him. Cedarius Christian was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Darius Livingston, who scored 21 points along with three steals and three blocks. The matchup was Livingston's 14th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Willie Wilson, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Lake Wales' win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Discovery, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Wales won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Auburndale at 8:00 p.m. on January 12th. As for Discovery, they will head out on the road to face off against Haines City at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Haines City is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
