In what's become a running theme this season, the Grand Valley Cardinals gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 60-27 win over Aspen. The victory was just business as usual for Grand Valley, who after 14 games remain undefeated this season.
Leading Grand Valley to victory were Kaylae Medina and Jaycee Pittman. Medina dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten assists, while Pittman almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. Pittman is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Gronewoller, who scored eight points.
Several Skiers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Fiona Benvenuto, who scored four points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ambler Henderson, who scored eight points.
Grand Valley pushed their record up to 14-0 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Aspen, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.
Grand Valley will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Gunnison at 12:30 p.m. Gunnison will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 220th, while Grand Valley is ranked 45th). As for Aspen, they will head out on the road to square off against Cedaredge at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Cedaredge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Friday.
