While Defiance's victory against Celina wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Defiance had just enough and edged out Celina 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Defiance has posted against Celina since September 27, 2018.
Defiance was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The match finished with set scores of 25-27, 25-11, 23-25, 25-17, 15-13.
Meanwhile, Lincolnview came up short against New Knoxville on Monday and fell 3-1. The loss continues a trend for the Lancers in their meetings with the Rangers: they've now lost three in a row.
Lincolnview started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 30-28, 25-21, 28-26.
Defiance will have to contain Beth Hughes as she made an impact in Lincolnview's last game. She had 17 digs and three assists. Hughes is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 17 or more in each of the last three games she's played.
Lincolnview's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Defiance, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-12 record this season.
