Southern Durham strolled past Vance County with points to spare, taking the game 59-43. The win was nothing new for Southern Durham as they're now sitting on four straight.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southern Durham to victory, but perhaps none more so than Briana Hughes, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Hughes is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Rah?shea Christopher was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 11 rebounds and five steals.
Southern Durham's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points per game. As for Vance County, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-1.
Southern Durham will head out on the road to square off against Carrboro at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Carrboro is ranked 168th, while Southern Durham is ranked 178th). As for Vance County, they will be playing at home against South Granville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Granville is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
