Not much got past Mary Peyton Hodge, who gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Pisgah off the board. Hodge has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Oak Grove saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eleanor Potter, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, North Davidson entered their tilt with Franklin on Friday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 9-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Black Knights, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Rileigh Barker was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Barker was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Abigail Brown was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Katelyn Sears was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Oak Grove's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for North Davidson, their record now sits at 19-6.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Oak Grove hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. However, it's not like North Davidson struggles in that department as they've averaged .332. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
