Blacksburg posted their biggest victory yet this season on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 70-49 margin over Liberty. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Blacksburg has posted against Liberty since January 9, 2015.
Blacksburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ziyon Harris led the charge by scoring 14 points along with six assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Federico, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Chesnee was handed a three-point loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Greenville Tech Charter on Friday. Chesnee took their game at home with ease, bagging a 90-32 victory over Greenville Tech Charter. Given Chesnee's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while Greenville Tech Charter is ranked 261st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Blacksburg's win ended a ten-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-12. As for Chesnee, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Blacksburg beat Chesnee 76-67 when the teams last played on January 5th. The rematch might be a little tougher for Blacksburg since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
