The Pieper Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cedar Creek Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pieper has four straight victories, Cedar Creek has 17 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, everything went Pieper's way against Tivy as Pieper made off with a 43-19 victory. Given Pieper's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 118th, while Tivy is ranked 365th), the result wasn't exactly an upset.
Pieper got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jake South out in front who threw for 374 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.5 yards per attempt. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Doss, who picked up 202 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Cedar Creek took a serious blow against Bastrop on Friday, falling 34-7. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cedar Creek in their matchups with Bastrop: they've now lost four in a row.
Pieper has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in five of their first six matches, giving them a 5-1 record. As for Cedar Creek, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 0-7.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday' game: Pieper has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 387.8 total yards per game. It's a different story for Cedar Creek, though, as they've been averaging only 183.7 per game. Will Pieper be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will Cedar Creek flip the ?
Everything came up roses for Pieper against Cedar Creek when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 49-14 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Cedar Creek's Bryan Allen, who threw for 95 yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Pieper to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
