The St. Clair Saints will head out to face off against the Owosso Trojans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams are still undefeated (St. Clair has six wins , while Owosso has four).
St. Clair's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Fraser. The result was nothing new for the Saints, who have now won four matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Hayley McFarlane tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, St. Clair got a massive performance out of Sofia Russell, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was Russell's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Madisyn Treat, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
St. Clair was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .619. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in five consecutive contests.
While Owosso didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Durand 13-0 on Wednesday. The Trojans are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the third game they've won by 6+ runs this season.
Hailie Caswell looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Audri Hrncharik, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Danica Dwyer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Owosso's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 12.0 runs this season. As for St. Clair, their record now sits at 6-0.
Both St. Clair and Owosso just can't seem to miss. The Saints have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Owosso struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went St. Clair's way against Owosso in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as St. Clair made off with a 12-2 win. Do the Saints have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
