Softball Recap: Central's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to 16

Central had already won 15 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.9 runs) and they went ahead and made it 16 on Friday. They blew past the Sardis Lions 14-6. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 21 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Central got a massive performance out of Gerritt Griggs, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Griggs has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Kirk, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive contests.

Central's victory bumped their record up to 33-3. As for Sardis, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 25-12.

Central didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-0 win against Cullman on the 18th. As for Sardis, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 2-1 victory against Lincoln on the 18th.
