The Canby Cougars couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a serious blow against Summit on Friday, falling 72-38. Canby lost against Summit in their previous head to head back in March, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 75-40 score last time.
Canby's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jack Brauckmiller, who scored 4 points along with 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Trevin Slagle, who scored 8 points.
Canby's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Summit, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Canby will head out on the road to face off against Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Summit, they will be playing at home against Sherwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
