It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Chester had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Paradise Adventist Academy Cougars by a score of 57-48. This was a revenge game for the Volcanoes: when they faced off against the Cougars back in December of 2024, they had to take a 52-42 loss.
Chester got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Grady Klimek out in front who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 15 boards. Patrick Gerbatz was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Paradise Adventist Academy still got an impressive performance from Jayden Eyer, who posted 30 points and three steals. Eyer's big performance that evening made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Jayden Stabel, who went 5-for-11 en route to 11 points.
Chester is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points over those games. The defeat snapped Paradise Adventist Academy's winning streak at 15 games and leaves them with a 24-6 record.
Coming up, Chester will take on Hayfork at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday. Hayfork knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully Chester likes a good challenge.
