The Mountain Range Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight defeat. They took a 77-61 bruising from Fossil Ridge. Mountain Range has not had much luck with Fossil Ridge recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Mountain Range saw an underclassman step up: Preston Brunton scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mataeo Jourdan, who scored 15 points.
Fossil Ridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sean Purvis, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Purvis has scored all season. Eli Nutting was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Mountain Range has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Fossil Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
Mountain Range will be playing at home against Northglenn at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Mountain Range is facing Northglenn at the right time seeing as Northglenn is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Fossil Ridge, they will head out on the road to take on Rocky Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Fossil Ridge is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Rocky Mountain in Colorado (Fossil Ridge is ranked 30th, while Rocky Mountain is ranked 86th).
