The Burgin Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Bluegrass United by a score of 67-65. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bluegrass United to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jeremiah Stiefel, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. Stiefel has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Sammy King was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with two steals.
Burgin has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season. As for Bluegrass United, they now have a winning record of 13-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burgin will challenge the Commanders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Washington County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Bulldogs in Kentucky (the Commanders are ranked 44th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 266th). Bluegrass United is on the road again on Monday and plays the Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. on February 5th.
