The Laney Buccaneers will head out on the road to square off against the Pinecrest Patriots at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Laney has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight defeats, while Pinecrest will come in with three straight wins.
Laney is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest loss since May 22, 2025 on Friday. They came up short against Hoggard, falling 8-1. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Buccaneers' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.
Laney saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Gore, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Pinecrest got the win against Hoke County on Friday by a conclusive 15-1. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
William Chopping made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
In other pitching news, Taylor Graves looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Pinecrest got a massive performance out of Seth Norris, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Norris has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Bohdi Robertson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Pinecrest's record now sits at 17-5. As for Laney, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.
Laney skirted past Pinecrest 2-0 in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Do the Buccaneers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
