The Robinson Rams will take on the West Springfield Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Robinson 4.1, West Springfield 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Friday, Robinson came up short against West Potomac and fell 11-7. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Rams, who until this contest were averaging 4.08 runs allowed.
Stella Gilbert stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Cohn, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for West Springfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Lake Braddock on Friday as they made off with a 10-4 win. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.
Andrea Yagui spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Natalie Coughlin was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2025. Alexa Harvey was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
West Springfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Braddock only posted a batting average of .192.
West Springfield's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Robinson, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Robinson hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like West Springfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Robinson couldn't quite finish off West Springfield in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 and fell 5-3. Will the Rams have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
