The Taft Raiders will challenge the Sotomayor WILDCATS at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Sotomayor will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Taft extended their winning streak to four on Friday. The Raiders blew past Warren 16-2. Considering the Raiders have won 11 matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Alyssa Rangel was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 14 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one home run and two runs.
In other batting news, Hannah Flores was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Sophia Quiroz was another key player, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Sotomayor, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Stevens with a sharp 8-1 win on Friday. The WILDCATS haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Like Taft, Sotomayor also got a great game from a two-way player: Penelope Flores. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). Flores was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That double was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Anaya Maddox was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was London Echavarria, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Sotomayor was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stevens only posted a batting average of .200.
Sotomayor's win bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Taft, their victory bumped their record up to 15-5.
Everything went Taft's way against Sotomayor when the teams last played back in March, as Taft made off with a 22-5 win. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the WILDCATS turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
