Grand Valley was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Coal Ridge apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Grand Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Horner, who threw for 102 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Mason Schoppner, who gained 71 total yards and a touchdown.
Grand Valley's defeat was their fourth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.3 points per game. As for Coal Ridge, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-7.
