Softball Recap: Merryville Finds Home Field Redemption Against Elton

There's no place like home for Merryville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They put the hurt on the Elton Indians with a sharp 15-1 win on Tuesday. Considering the Panthers have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Brynn Beard, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March. Kyleigh Spillers was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Merryville's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-12. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Elton, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.

Coming up, Merryville will head out to take on Grand Lake at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Elton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Crowley at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Gent have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
