Volleyball Recap: Corvian Community Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Corvian Community was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Piedmont Community Charter Patriots, falling 3-0. If the Cardinals were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Patriots when the teams met back in August of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

While Corvian Community ultimately came up short, they really made Piedmont Community Charter work, particularly in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-18, 25-12.

Despite the loss, Corvian Community saw an underclassman step up: freshman Macia Newell had 29 assists and 12 digs. Those 12 digs set a new season-high mark for Newell. Another player making a difference was Peyton Church, who had ten digs.

Corvian Community's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Piedmont Community Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

Corvian Community has already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Lake Norman Charter on the 2nd. As for Piedmont Community Charter, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Sugar Creek Charter on the 2nd.
