Cambridge City Lincoln has gone 9-1 against Union City recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Cambridge City Lincoln is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. Everything went their way against Randolph Southern as they made off with an 18-2 win. Considering the Golden Eagles' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Lexi McPheeters made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. McPheeters was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Paige Pitcock was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Samantha Bell, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Union City had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on Monroe Central with a sharp 15-1 victory on Monday. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.
Union City also got a great performance from Kierra Thacker as she struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Thacker has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brianna Williams, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with seven RBI, one run, and one double. Oaklee Reichard was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four runs and one RBI.
The win snapped Cambridge City Lincoln's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-13 record. As for Union City, their record is now 9-12.
