After starting their season with three straight games on the road, St. Andrew is finally coming home. They will look to take advantage of their home-field as they take on the Briarwood Academy Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, St. Andrew's was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 24-20 to Central Fellowship Christian Academy.
Meanwhile, Briarwood Academy blew past Glascock County, posting a 44-16 win at home. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Buccaneers.
Mason Poss and Cutler Fleming were among the main playmakers for Briarwood Academy as the former rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries and the latter threw for 195 yards and three touchdowns on only nine passes. Poss got the majority of those yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible54 yards. Another back making a difference was Charlie Mosley, who rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown.
Briarwood Academy wouldn't let Glascock County keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force four fumbles. Mason Thigpen led the group effort, picking up two of those forced fumbles all by himself. Cason Rodgers also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing a fumble and making four total tackles.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Briarwood Academy was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 454 total yards. That's the most total yards they've posted since was before the start of last season.
St. Andrew's dropped their record down to 0-3 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Briarwood Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
St. Andrew's lost to Briarwood Academy at home by a decisive 20-3 margin when the teams last played back in November of 2019. Thankfully for St. Andrew's, Dax Reese (who rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries, and also threw for 87 yards and a touchdown on only seven passes) won't be suiting up this time.
