The Vermilion Sailors lost against the Huron Tigers back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Vermilion opened the new year with a less-than-successful 54-43 defeat to Huron. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Vermilion in their matchups with Huron: they've now lost eight in a row.
Vermilion lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Caleb German, who scored 13 points. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Riley Kearns, who scored 15 points.
Vermilion's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 4-4. As for Huron, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vermilion will challenge St. Paul at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Huron, they will head out on the road to face off against Port Clinton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
