Ocean City and Absegami are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Raiders will host the Braves at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Ocean City is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Ocean City came out on top against Rancocas Valley on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Raiders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 victory over the Red Devils. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Raiders have posted since May 14, 2024.
Jessica Mooney was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Carlee Hiddemen was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Taylor Vaugh, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Ocean City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Absegami hadn't beaten Holy Spirit on the road since April 19, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. The Braves came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 5-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Braves.
Absegami's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Ocean City, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.
Both Ocean City and Absegami just can't seem to miss. The Raiders have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Absegami struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ocean City skirted past Absegami 4-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Braves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
