The Sumner Spartans put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Eisenhower, posting a 77-35 victory at home. Sumner might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won five games by 26 points or more this season.
Sumner's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lainee Houillon led the charge by scoring 20 points along with four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Houillon has scored at least 25% of Sumner's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kawehi Borden, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Sumner pushed their record up to 7-0 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points per game. As for Eisenhower, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sumner will finish 2023 at home by hosting Bonney Lake at 7:00 p.m. on December 28th. Eisenhower will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Moses Lake at 5:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
