The Durham Trojans will square off against the Biggs Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Durham is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Durham needed a bit of extra time to put away Paradise. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bobcats, sneaking past 5-3. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Sadie Sjolund and Annalee Horn were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Sjolund struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Horn tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Sjolund has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Sjolund went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run, while Horn went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Clare Osbon, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Biggs got the win against Williams two weeks ago by a conclusive 22-3. Considering the Wolverines have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Durham, Biggs also got a great game from a pair of two-way players: Arden Vines. Throwing, Vines pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Gracie Sheppard pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Vines went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Sheppard got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI Sheppard has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Lyllian Baxter was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and three RBI while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Shay Jackson, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Biggs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .903. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive contests.
Durham's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Biggs, their win bumped their record up to 16-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Durham has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Biggs struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Durham couldn't quite finish off Biggs in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 and fell 3-1. Will the Trojans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
