The Valor Christian Eagles entered their tilt with the Arvada West Wildcats with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Valor Christian came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 61-49 on Wednesday. Given Valor Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Wildcats are ranked 59th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Quinn Vansickle, who scored 28 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Jones, who scored 13 points along with five steals.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Saylor Swanson, who scored ten points along with six assists and five rebounds. Malorie Byrne was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two blocks.
Valor Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Arvada West, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valor Christian will take on the Chargers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Arvada West, they will stay at home for another game and welcome the Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on February 5th. Hopefully Ralston Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Wednesday.
